SEASON PREVIEW 2019
RANDYMy number one goal is to create video, stories, print (blogs), social media and other related content from places that people can actually visit themselves. I prefer not to take viewers to locations they could never go on their own. Traveling to unique destinations means nothing unless there is something there to share with everyone. :)
I bring years of writing, storytelling, shooting, editing and content creation to the viewing public. My love for travel began long before becoming a weatherman. My midwestern family traveled to places like the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Hawaii. I was simply amazed as a kid that you could escape the cold weather of Chicago and be snorkeling in the islands the same day. It was life changing! Fast forward to adulthood and it was time to go to college. I had only one real passion at the time and that was broadcasting. So I went off to Arizona State University (notice the warm climate) and studied television broadcasting and meteorology. Sounds weird, but I knew I wanted to be a weatherman! I watched the guys in Chicago and I knew I could do that (at least I thought I could). After graduation, getting that first job out of college was tough! I had to scratch and claw just to find a position in a small market. But it eventually happened. And I worked my way up from station to station perfecting my craft and telling viewers about thunderstorms, hurricanes, snow storms and blazing temperatures nightly. I loved it! But something also unexpected happened from the start. I found myself on the job and having the opportunity to report from the field about the weather or any fun feature event of my choice (picture the movie Bruce Almighty). The nightly studio weather reports were fun, but I eventually realized my love and passion was storytelling and travel. I was now exploring amazing places and even getting paid! While working for CBS in Tampa, I created my own weekly travel segment where I took viewers on amazing adventures. This included wrestling alligators, flying a fighter jet, shark diving and uncovering pythons in the Everglades. And traveling to foreign countries. Over the years, my worked has appeared on ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, Headline News, Weather Channel, ABC World News Tonight and the Associated Press. Since leaving television weather forecasting full time, I have produced two television shows, each carrying 13 episodes. Both shows air regionally and in foreign markets. And I have created content for destinations from around the world for television, print and social media. I also teach broadcasting to future on-air talent with Florida TV's parent company American Talent. Each day is a new adventure and I love creating new content. Where are we going next? |
